REMNANT FOREST PATCHES

RFPs are small forest islands found in a matrix of open, built-up, and other human-modified landscapes. Although small, RFPs have high economic, ecological and conservation value.

ALI- DAVAO CARBON FOREST

Urban green spaces such as the ALI-Davao Carbon Forest can capture and store carbon that we emit into the atmosphere, serve as a wildlife sanctuary, and create a safe recreational space for anyone seeking peace and respite.

Finding a little haven of nature is rare in urban areas and yet incredibly important because of everything they can provide for us.

The carbon forest, located in Bago Gallera, Davao City, is largely comprised of woodlands that can withstand periodic flooding in the area. It is home to all kinds of wildlife like beetles, birds, reptiles, and small mammals. It is also dominated by several native trees that provide shade and shelter for these animals

Following PEF’s partnership with Ayala Land Inc., the ALI-Davao Carbon Forest is being regenerated back into a lush green forest after years of destructive human activities. With the combined efforts of the carbon forest team and dedicated volunteers, PEF was able to grow over 6,000 trees by the end of 2020.

Despite this admirable progress, we still have a long way to go to reach our goals for the ALI-Davao Carbon Forest and we’ll need all the support we can get!
