H.E. MADAM HALIMAH YACOB AT THE PHILIPPINE EAGLE CENTER

The Philippine Eagle Foundation is honored to welcome H.E. Madam Halimah Yacob, President of the Republic of Singapore, at the Philippine Eagle Center today. This is the first time a foreign head of state has visited the PEC and the Philippine Eagles. The President was accompanied by distinguished guests including her spouse, Mr. Mohamed Abdullah Alhabshee, Ms. Indranee Thurai Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for Education, Dr. Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State, Mr. Gerard Ho, Singapore Ambassador to the Philippines, and the Members of the Parliament- Mr. Liang Eng Hwa, Mr. Sitoh Yih Pin and Ms. Cheng Li Hui.

The President and her delegation arrived with Sec. Silvestre Bello III of the Department of Labor and Employment and welcomed by the PEF Board of Trustees, Ms. Felicia H. Atienza, President, Mr. Johnson Ongking, Treasurer, Mr. Francis Ledesma, Mr. Tom Valdez and PEF Executive Director Mr. Dennis Salvador, together with Asec. Ricardo Calderon of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.


The visit entailed a brief program introducing the PEF’s work including the recent Philippine Eagle Loan Program with the Wildlife Reserves Singapore, followed by a quick tour of the Philippine Eagle Center. Biodiversity-friendly enterprises were highlighted as source of income for the PEF’s partner indigenous communities.



The visit concluded with a special Flight Demonstration, featuring a Brahminy Kite and the Great Philippine Eagle in flight.
