CEVA ANIMAL HEALTH PH, INC. adopts philippine eagle

Chick 29 is Named “Espoir,” French for Hope

The Philippine subsidiary of global animal health company Ceva Santé Animale adopts Chick no. 29. With the multinational company based in France, Ceva Animal Health (Philippines), Inc. names the chick “Espoir,” which means “hope” in French.

The company’s leadership team in the Philippines visited the Philippine Eagle Center on March 16 and viewed Espoir live through a CCTV monitor. Observation is strictly done remotely to keep the chick from seeing humans and avoid imprinting. This is important in raising Espoir to become an adult eagle that can survive in the wild if released.

PEF Executive Director Dennis Salvador thanks Ceva Animal Health (Philippines), Inc. for joining the roster of Philippine eagle adopters. According to Salvador the adoption of Espoir opens up more opportunities in advancing the mission. “Supporting this chick can result to more milestones in conservation such as Espoir being the first suitably-reared Philippine eagle for release,” says Salvador. He adds that Ceva as a leading animal health company in the country can also usher in more support to the cause.

PEF and Ceva sign a Memorandum of Agreement on the adoption. Ceva is providing annual support to Espoir for three years by donating Php 200,000 per year to cover Espoir’s food, keeper care, veterinary care, and shelter maintenance.
