To Save Our Eagle, a 45- minute ultra HD documentary on the Philippine Eagle was shown at the Osmeña Theatre at Ayuntamiento de Manila on March 28, 2019 through the support of The Department of Finance led by Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez, and USAID Protect Wildlife Project. The documentary produced by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in partnership with the Philippine Eagle Foundation and Emmy Award- winning wildlife cinematographer Neil Rettig, follows a family of Philippine Eagle in the wild over the course of six months documenting how a pair of eagles take care of their young until it learns to fend for itself.
The special screening was attended by several key government officials including DOF Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez, BIR Commissioner Cesar Dulay, Treasurer of the Philippines Lea de Leon, BOC Deputy Commissioner Edward Dy Buco, Insurance Commissioner Dennis Funa, SEC Commissioner Antonietta Ibe and Ephyro Amatong, PDIC President Roberto Tan, USec. Bayani Agbin, USec. Antonette Tiongco, USec. Gil Beltran, ASec. Tony Lambino, and ASec. Paula Alvarez. The PEF Board of Trustees members Mr. Francis Ledesma, Ms. Alexandra Eduque and Mr. Miguel Gonzalez were also present at the event.
A Question and Answer session, with Neil Rettig, Dr. Laura Johnson, PEF Executive Director Dennis Salvador and PEF Director for Research and Conservation Jayson Ibanez followed, to discuss the plight of our eagle and what we can do to save the species.
The special screening aims to raise awareness and inspire concrete and immediate actions for the benefit of the great Philippine Eagle.
